One of the common issue while adding a virtual device to run emulator in Android Studio is ‘VT-x is disabled in BIOS‘ highlighted in red. Please refer the screen shot below:
The solution obtained while troubleshooting is to ‘Enable VT-x in your BIOS settings (refer to documentation for your computer).’.
To do this, follow below steps:
- Restart your computer
- Open your BIOS settings while the system is rebooting. This is usually by pressing certain keys which varies from manufacture to manufacture and even by OS. You can try some of the common keys or google:
- Dell: F2
- HP: F10
- Acer: F2
- Asus: F2
- Toshiba: F2
- Lenovo: F1 (or F2)
- Next you use your arrow keys to search for Intel Virtual Technology/ Virtualization/ AMD-V a.k.a. VT-x and enable it.
- Once done ‘Save and Exit’ to restart your PC.
